Many years ago I asked the question of myself "what films did I see in the time my mother worked in the ODEON Clerk Street, Edinburgh?" In answering that question I decided to resarch (produce a very long list)of all the events/films. That happened in the cinema's history. This blog is based on notes written around 1992.

Growing Up with Cinema in my Blood
My childhood was spent watching films on the big screen. Being dyslexic I spent a year or so of my life behind others in school; until luckily one of my teachers spotted the symptoms.
Then I read everything I could get my hands on. One particular magazine always stood out in my childhood years that of National Geographic. Inspired by the articles and photographs there in it was still photography that would eventually become my passion. From a childhood of watching films I was inspired more to capture the world in still form than as moving pictures. Although watching films has "inspired me to "break the rules" and experiment with how images are shot and composed.
Just the other day I watched a "The Secret of My Sucess." And the scene where Helen Slater is drinking from the water fountain, my first thoughts were, "that's my type of image." Tight cropped, let the viewer imagine the whole picture.
